About Me

Andrew began his musical studies at the age of 10 in the Sioux Falls public schools.  His first violin teacher and conductor was Mrs. Anne Burish.  With Andrew showing rapid progress, Mrs. Burish once remarked that he was a "most natural player."  Since then, he has played in several orchestras’ including the Roosevelt High School Symphony and Chamber Orchestras, the Sioux Empire Youth Orchestra Symphony Orchestra, the Dakota Academy of Performing Arts Symphony Orchestra, and the Luther College Symphony and Chamber Orchestras.  He has served at Assistant Concertmaster in the Roosevelt Orchestra and as Assistant Principle Second in the Luther College Symphony Orchestra.  Along with his performing obligations, Andrew also served as an Orchestra Manager for the Luther College Symphony and Chamber Orchestras.  Currently, Andrew is attending the University of South Dakota as the recipient of the Rawlins Piano Trio Fellowship.  His duties include acting as Concertmaster of the USD Symphony, playing in the Townsley Duo/Trio and acting as the Orchestra Assistant.  In addition, he is also the first violinist of a newly formed string quartet and is a member of the USD Chamber Orchestra.  Professionally, he is a member of the first violin section of the Sioux City Symphony.  As a teacher, he has taught lessons to beginning and intermediate students of all ages.  His principle teachers include Maria Peters, Virginia Strauss, Frederick Halgedahl, Jubal Fulks, Dan Auerbach and Eunho Kim.  Chamber music coaches include Maria Peters, Jubal Fulks, Marie-Elaine Gagnon and Eunho Kim.  He plays on a violin made by Jonathan Cooper and a bow made by Pierre Guillaume.
