UXD Week 4 Journal

I think this has been my favorite week so far of this course. I feel like I'm starting to put together the in-course concepts with knowledge I already possess. My marketing and public relations background has always involved gleaning insights and building both strategies and designs. It was this week that I felt like I was most able to draw on that training and experience the most.

It struck me that we also finished the two primary books of this course already. I appreciated that each book had a different focus, but they complimented and supported each others concepts well. I found this to particularly true in the final chapter of "Designing with the Mind in Mind" and the final chapters of "The Design of Everyday Things." By the time I reached the end, concepts and themes felt familiar. Overall, I felt like they provided a good foundation for Design Thinking.

I'm looking forward to the next three weeks as we come to final modules of this course. As I look ahead, it seems the focus will be on visual design and I'm hoping I will be exposed to new ideas while also strengthening my existing graphic design skills.
